A large oak carved dressing table With large floor-length bevelled mirror in oak moulded surround, raised to each side on pedestals with superstructure of small cupords with small side opening doors, the pedestals having mask carved top draw above four graduated short drawers with turned wooden handles, raised on plinth base having upholstered lift up compartment cushion to centre

Howard and Sons of Berners Street in London were the foremost upholstery maker of the nineteenth century, regarded in the same way as Gillows were for cabinet furniture. Howard and Sons were such an important company that they collaborated with Gillows on several important projects and may have even manufactured pieces of upholstered furniture for Gillows as well as other important makers such as Maple and Co.
